The Taiwan Textile Federation has organised an online product launch event, showcasing sustainable outdoor innovations from seven Taiwan textiles companies.

For the past two decades, the clothing industry has played a vital role in the global economy, but it has also had significant effects on the environment. The industry is responsible for approximately 8-10% of worldwide carbon emissions and generates large quantities of discarded garments that end up in landfills. Moreover, clothing production necessitates substantial amounts of fresh water and contributes significantly to water pollution.

To combat these issues, Taiwanese textile companies are taking proactive measures to address the negative environmental impact of the apparel industry. They are leveraging their expertise in material innovation to develop sustainable fabrics that consume fewer resources, such as water and energy, and utilise natural and recyclable materials. These endeavors have resulted in the creation of fully recyclable functional textiles, the implementation of printing techniques that conserve water and energy and the design of skin-friendly protective equipment, says the Taiwan Textile Federation. Consequently, Taiwanese textile companies have built a strong reputation and are the preferred choice for major international brands that prioritise sustainability, adds the organisation.

Taiwan is at the forefront of eco-friendly textile production, particularly when it comes to chemical fibres. Recognising the progress made by Taiwanese textile firms in fostering a more sustainable industry, the Taiwan Textile Federation has conducted an online product launch event to showcase the latest sustainable outdoor sports textiles and technologies from Taiwan. These products not only serve functional purposes but are also environmentally friendly, the organisation explains.

Here are some highlights from the online new product launch featuring the seven companies:
