Leipzig, Germany – 18 July, 2024 – The emtec TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer represents a breakthrough in objective haptic measurement technology, simulating the sensory capabilities of the human hand to provide precise data on the tactile properties of textiles. The device evaluates parameters such as surface softness, surface smoothness, stretch and recovery, thermo-haptic properties, friction, and crumple or drape behavior. This level of detailed analysis allows textile manufacturers to maintain the highest standards of quality and comfort in their products.

The TSA is designed to deliver rapid results, with evaluations of surface softness, surface smoothness, and stretch and recovery parameters completed in under two minutes. Comparative studies have demonstrated that the TSA's measurements correlate up to 100% with traditional hand panel testing methods, ensuring reliability and consistency. This objective approach to haptic testing addresses the variability inherent in subjective hand-feel tests and provides manufacturers with the data necessary to make informed decisions about their products.

One of the standout features of the updated TSA device is its integration with the cloud-based Virtual Haptic Library. Developed in collaboration with Black Swan Textiles, this innovative online database digitizes and categorizes TSA sample data, making it accessible to authorized personnel worldwide in real-time. This capability greatly enhances quality assurance and control processes and reduces the need for physical sample shipments, thereby saving time and reducing logistical costs.

Alexander Gruener, Global Business Development Manager at emtec, emphasized the transformative impact of the TSA and the Virtual Haptic Library on the textile industry’s quality control processes: “The TSA device and Virtual Haptic Library redefine how manufacturers assess and ensure the haptic quality of their products. This technology enhances transparency in the supply chain and aligns with industry-wide sustainability initiatives by minimizing waste and reducing the carbon footprint.”

FEBRATEX 2024 attendees are invited to visit the Elof Hansson stand 57 in sector 7 to experience firsthand the capabilities of the TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer. Emtec Sales Area Manager Daniel Ohndorf and Osni dos Santos from partner Elof Hansson Brazil will be on-site to demonstrate the device and discuss its advantages in optimizing product quality and streamlining production processes.
