Jilin Chemical Fiber is expanding two of its next-generation made-made cellulosic fibre (MMCF) product lines.

The China-based company specialises in the production of viscose fibre, in particular viscose filament and viscose staple fibre. Its filament production capacity is currently 90,000 tonnes and staple fibre is 120,000 tonnes. Jilin’s scope covers cotton fibre, wood fibre and bamboo fibre, as well as regenerated cellulose short fibre and bamboo short fibres. Since 2020 the company has collaborated with CANOPY and in 2022 started next generation fibre production.

This expansion signals its continued investment in low-impact textile innovation within the Chinese MMCF sector.

Hermosa Sun, director of sales at Jilin Chemical Group Sales Centre says: “In China, some major international brands have begun to focus on next-generation fibres, such as Anta. The European market is the one that pays the most attention to next-generation fibres abroad, followed by the US market. For instance, Levi's is very concerned about JIRECELL from Jilin.”

Jilin plans to increase production of its viscose filament yarn Jirecell, which is made from 70% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified
