March seemed significant for textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling, with a number of operators in the space announcing supposedly successful and oversubscribed funding rounds. WTiN’s business innovation lead, Jessica Robe, takes a look at the startups drawing investor interest and what this means for the wider textile & apparel industry.

Meet the innovators

• Epoch Biodesign – An enzymatic T2T recycler headed out of the UK, specialising in deriving recycled nylon and polyester outputs from waste.
• Circ – A US-based chemical T2T recycler leveraging a proprietary technology to extract both cellulosic and polyester outputs from polycotton waste.
• Ravel – Promoting the use of a distinctive “purification recycling” technology, Seattle-based Ravel are initially extracting rPET from poly-elastane waste.
• Sheep Inc. – A luxury fashion brand centred on Merino wool knitwear, offering supply chain traceability through its Connected Dot NFC platform.
